Cruising through Fisher Island sound toward Mystic was narrow and beautiful with mooring fields filled with sailboats of all colors and sizes. We were intentional about arriving at the entrance of Mystic Harbor 10 minutes past the hour to facilitate not having a long wait for the Highway bridge that opens at 40 min past the hour, every hour. **Be aware that the railway bridge (about 5 min downriver before the Highway bridge) does close for trains, which happened just as we were approaching. Adding an additional 10 minutes to your timeframe should be enough to adjust for this.

We arrived at Mystic Seaport Museum and Edward achieved a badass docking backing into a port side pier with boats lining either side. You just had to be there …even the dock hands were impressed ;-) The museum was impressive and we were docked in the midst of friendly visitors that passed by. They did have floating docks available, but we were at a fixed dock, which proved to be challenging with Zuly. **If you have a dog, you may want to especially request a floating dock when reserving.

From the marina, a 10 minutes walk (or 5 minute tender) took us into this charming town that was one of our favorites yet! Mystic Bridge Ice Cream (amazing!!) was one of our first stops immediately as we crossed the Mystic Bridge. There were some great shops (Hang the Moon Mystic, Goddess in Me) that were right up my alley and I loved exploring the art galleries and even found some new watercolors to add to my palette. It was so fun and nostalgic to get a picture at Mystic Pizza! I highly recommend getting a reservation (outside if possible) at S&P Oyster House. Their sesame and pistachio encrusted tuna is perhaps the best I’ve ever had. The entire meal and ambiance was spectacular and special.

While Mysic is very walkable, it is not easily bikeable. We were able to take our bikes to Ace Hardware, the grocery store, and Mitchell Marine (a must on every stop :-) but the bike lane to get there is extremely narrow and was full of debris so we opted for the sidewalk. This was doable and there were sidewalks the entire route to these destinations.
