Stonington, CT 7/7-7/9/25
The cruise into Stonington was calm and intensely foggy, my favorite combination. There’s something about watching the radar and the mysterious nature of slowly moving through the fog that makes me breathe and move slower. It feels as if the fog forces us to slow down, go inward, focus on where we are in the moment, and trust: in our instruments, in our communication with other boaters, and that the path will be revealed . It’s a spiritual experience. The fog had lifted by the time we arrived at Stonington Harbor Yacht Club and Amy was welcoming and very helpful in orienting us to the area. Plenty of grassy areas and walking path immediately off the dock that led to the beach made Zuly a happy camper! I enjoyed watching summer sailing camps and the kids that darted back and forth across in their miniature sailboats. It was like watching bumper cars! We took several trips to Indulge coffee, and would highly recommend their breakfast sandwiches and scones! Edward is always on the lookout for the perfect scone and he gave it a 10/10. Stonington is a quaint, very bike-able town and great for dog walking, and we rode our bikes to the end of Water Street to Dog Watch cafe, which had a beautiful outdoor patio and delicious seafood. The next morning was Zuly haircut day! We found a nice grassy spot in the shade and Zuly got her new “doo” before we headed out toward our next stop, Mystic, CT.
